  1. 1. One reason is household budgets are strained by high costs: 14 percent of middle-income Nevada families spend more than 10 percent of their income on health care. One other reason is due to high costs block access to care: 14 percent of people in Nevada report not visiting a doctor due to high costs.

    2. One reason is —that at a time of economic crisis, we simply cannot afford to fix our health care system as well. (http://www.whitehouse.gov/assets/documents/White_House_Forum_on_Health_Reform_Report.pdf) One other reason is: Americans pay more than ever for health insurance, but get less coverage. (http://www.healthreform.gov/reports/index.html)

    3. Obama favors a plan that can provide all Americans with quality, affordable health care. The reason for favor is because he care about all Americans.

    4. I believe that people should be required to obtain health insurance. In the long-run insurance only helps you and there should be no objection in that. Especially if the government makes insurance more affordable, than this shouldn’t even be a question.

    5. According to Wall Street Journal - people between ages 50 and 64 have the most difficulty obtaining health insurance from individual coverage plans because they are too young for Medicare but old enough to be "vulnerable to layoffs or pushed into early retirement.”

    6. The United States spent approximately $2.2 trillion on health care in 2007, or $7,421 per person. This comes to 16.2% of GDP, nearly twice the average of other developed nations.

    7. The overall proposal sounds like it could work and that it would do our country a great deed. I think that if this does follow through and the Health Care Reform performs as it is intended to than I do favor the plan. A lot of people are working hard to figure out the problem here, and I do believe President Obama is looking for America’s best interest.

I did have a question about the reform when they said:
“Additionally, the revised proposal calls for a $750 annual fee on employers for each full-time worker not offered coverage through their job. The fee would be set at $375 for part-time workers. Companies with fewer than 25 employees would be exempt. The fee was forecast to generate $52 billion over 10 years, money the government would use to help provide subsidies to those who cannot afford insurance.” Does this mean that we, the employees, would have to pay that, or that the company must pay that? If they are suggesting that the worker pays that, then I am against that due to the cost. I am a part-employee, and that would be three of my pay checks.

  2. 1. According to the Democrats, Healthcare Reform would make it more accessible for Americans to obtain health insurance. It would also make it cheaper to afford. This program would alleviate the soaring prices that competitors would offer. This source comes from the Fox News Network.
    2. The 2 reasons not to reform Healthcare would be the tremendous cost on America. Many Democrats including President Obama says that he would not allow any Government run program unless it could be paid for. The issue here is the raising of taxes on more Americans who don’t need that, especially in these troubling times.
    3. President Obama supports a plan which is run by the Government. He expects this program to mandate coverage for people who are under the age of 18. This program would reduce the costs of high medical coverage and ease the financial challenges faced by most Americans.
    4. Should people be mandated to obtain medical insurance? Absolutely not! It is difficult to believe that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would support the idea of "consequences" for those who do not accept the plan. This is still America and for me, we should have the plan we want, not what the government wants because that is what America is all about. Whose business is it if I want certain coverage over another? I want what’s best for me.
    5. I think that older people have a more difficult time obtaining healthcare due to age and their retirement pay getting cut. They tend to suffer from more health related ailments and many coverage’s may not cover them.
    6. According to the NCHC the costs of Medicare in 2007 was about 2.4 trillion dollars and that is about twice as much as the rate of inflation. This number is expected to rise up to 4.3 trillion dollars by 2017.
    7. With what the Democrats want to do and how to go about it I would say no. I am not convinced that this program would ease the burden of pay to most Americans. The cost would be through the roof. Our debts our currently un-payable and the responsibilities will be passed down to the next generation. We will have to eventually pay for that but, unfortunately the realities of our financial iresponsibilities will prove to be quite disastrous in the very near future.

  3. 1.- a)Fewer and fewer americans have health insurance, and can not afford good health care.
    b) Employers are not offering health insurances to employees because of the high costs.
    http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/06/18/ep.health.reform.basics/

2.- a)Republicans think that this reform will be to costly, and will make health insurance more expensive.
    b) Republicans fear that employers would opt for a govt.-run insurance over private incurance.
    http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/06/18/ep.health.reform.basics/

3.- President Obamas' plans regarding the healthcare reform include control rising health care costs, guarantee choice of doctor, and assure high-quality,affordable health care for all Americans, among others.

4.- Having health insurance is a great benefit, many people don't have insurance because of the high costs. It would be a good proposal only if it is available to everybody in every aspect.

5.- Senior citizens have the most difficulty in obtaining health insurance, the reson being is because the risk of getting any type of disease is higher and more frequently, resulting in more spenses on prescription medicaments by the health insurance provider.

6.- $2.4 trillion, and it is expected to be at $4.3 trillion by 2017

7.- As many of you I also support this reform, but in my opinion universal health care is a better option, many counties around the world have this health program, countries that are in a lower status compared to the US and don't have issues with health care, and what amazes me the most is that the richest country in the world spends more money in health care than any other country in the world and still has difficulties to overcome those type of problems.

  4. 1. One reason why there is a need for health care reform is that 18% of people in Nevada are uninsured and 17% of the people have at least one full-time worker in their family. The second reason the choice of health insurance is limited to people in Nevada that have conditions that exist and when these certain people need health care coverage, it is often denied.

    2. The first reason why health care is not needed is because in 1960, Americans spent 53% of their income on food, housing, energy, and health care. Presently, they spend 55% of their income on health care.
Another reason why health care is not necessary is is because it is 15% of the nation's gross product and in 2007, it went pass the price of 2.4 trillion dollars.

  5. 1. One of the most important reasons for health care reform is actually made up of 46 million little reasons, which is the number of Americans who are currently living without health insurance. Because of its high cost, many employers have stopped offering it. Another cause for reform is the 61 percent increase of average family premiums in Nevada alone.
    http://www.healthreform.gov/reports/statehealthreform/nevada.html)

    2. Although there are many arguments against health care reform, the two that appeal most to me are: a) our economy is in no shape to be shelling out trillions of dollars for health care, and b) the fact that government run health care could force private insurance companies out of business.

    3. President Obama favors a government-run health insurance program that would compete with the private sector. He seems to favor this form of health care because it may assist Americans in obtaining full health care coverage.

    4. No, people should not be forced to obtain health insurance. Although having it may be a smart choice, it is just that: a choice. If an individual feels that they don't need health care, then the government has no business pickpocketing them and forcing them into it regardless of the decision they've made.

    5. Americans between the ages of 50-64 face the most opposition when it comes to obtaining health care, as more men and women in this age group continue to be laid off from jobs with employer-sponsored health care.

    6. In 2008, the United States spent $2.4 trillion on health care.

    7. No, I absolutely do not favor the so-called reform being proposed by Democrats. I believe that the same group of perfectly competent lazy people who take advantage of food stamps and welfare checks will take advantage of government-run health care as well. The only problem is that the government isn't paying for all of this, we are (or at least we will be). Average, everyday Americans who get up and go to work and pay for their own health care will be inadvertently paying for so-called "free" health insurance so that less hardworking Americans can continue to do nothing and get away with it.

Additionally, the national deficit has quadrupled in the past 100 days and we are spending ourselves into an economic state comparable to that of Germany in the years preceding WWI. Paying for everyone and their brother to have health care is only going to make it worse, not to mention put a lot of private insurance companies out of business, which will only put more people out of work. The government will come out more powerful and the people more dependent.

  6. 1. The first concern is regarding children because there are so many without medical insurance.
The second concern is regarding the cost of the insurance, and that means we need to keep the cost down so americans who don't have insurance can soon afford it.
Lastly, since it is through the government, they have to cover you even if you have a pre existing condition.
    http://www.americanhealthcarereform.org/

    2. Since the healthcare reform is such a major thing, to pay for it, they would have to raise taxes.
Also, it might change the way of being choose which plan is right for your family, meaning you might not have a choice.
    http://www.insurancespecialists.com/industry-articles/universal-health-care/

3.President Obama favors the plan that can provide each and every american with quality. He believes that each american should have the correct health protection needed, that is why he is enacted this plan.

4.Yes, i believe that by law, everyone should have insurance because its a great and safe thing to have. It lets you get the medical help needed and if you have insurance and need a certain operation done, it is a lot cheaper then paying for it yourself.

    5. I have found that the elderly have difficulty because most have a lot more medical problems then other age groups and also, they do not always have the amount of money needed to cover the co-pays after insurance has done their part.

    6. we have spent $2.3 trillion on health care.

    7. Personally, I have mixed feelings, only because i agree with everyone having health care, however, it will raise our taxes, and in the end it will still be more expensive for us. Lastly, i would rather choose my own doctors, also, if i have a medical problem and need an operation, i don't want non-doctors on a committee telling me if i am approved for a surgery or not. its not up to them.

  7. Jasmyn,
In regard to you last question, it would be the employer's responsibility to pay the $750 annual fee...however, that would not necessarily leave the employee unaffected. If a business, say your part time job, is required to pay $750 annually per employee, where would they get that money from? Prices on products? Maybe. Employee pay/benefit cuts? Maybe. Or employee cuts? I guess we may eventually see the answer.

  8. 1. One reason that is given for the healthcare reform is due to high cost, employers stopped offering employees insurance. Another reason due to the healthcare is because the United States spends more per American rather most costly community. (http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/06/18/ep.health.reform.basics/)

    2. Two reason’s that aren’t given for healthcare reform are that it wont be able to help a person with a pre-existing condition. Another reason is, controversies made by the republicans, it may have lower quality. (http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/06/18/ep.health.reform.basics/)

    3. Barack Obama favors to pass a comprehensive health reform as to control costs, guarantee choice, and quality care for American‘s. In general, to create a government-sponsored health insurance program that can be optional for all citizens. The reason why Obama favor’s this type of reform is because he wants equality to occur, one example is to have prohibitions against insurers who discriminate people with pre-existing conditions.

    4. In my point of view I believe people should be required by law to obtain health insurance. The reason to my belief is because I view that it can help every American. Not everybody is able to afford insurances so I see it would be a good idea if it was required by the law since it would help many with not a lot of opportunities of having some type of insurance.

    5. The age group that gets hit hard are the ages between 50-64. It gets more difficult for various reasons for one being that many of them are losing their jobs. Second not many can get a coverage, and while those one that do have individual coverage still ought to pay.

    6. The total cost the United States is spending on health estimates about $2.2 trillion according in 2007 so I assume the cost rise.

    7. I don’t know where I stand in this issue it’s actually difficult to say right this moment. I believe though Obama can succeed with his ideal look based on this health care reform he’s proposing but still what about those people with pre-existing conditions? It is not going to help them, reading from sources there is no type of insurance or plan that can help those with pre-existing conditions. But in the other way around it is control cost and I see that can help the economy very well. Right in this moment, I don’t really know where I stand, probably later on.

  9. This comment is in regards to Ms. Brant's comment:

Thank you for clearing that up for me. When you said that this would not necessarily leave the employee unaffected that made me curious. This proposal states that companies with fewer than 25 employees would be exempt. In my store we have about 15 employees, but there are several A’gaci stores in Texas, and 2 stores in Las Vegas. Therefore, our company wouldn’t be exempt and where would we be getting the money?

When you wondered if employee benefits would be cut I started to think about that too. For the company I work for you have to be a full time employee to receive any kind of benefit. So, I don’t think my company could do that. However, I do believe that prices on products will increase. Slowly but surely, prices have been going up and if they are doing it now just to get by, than I think that they will be doing it later to make the money comes. It is hard to predict what is going to happen, especially when the result will directly affect you.

  10. 1. One reason is that healthcare costs are increasing and hurting families and businesses everywhere. It's making families choose between putting food on the table or paying for health insurance.
The other reason is because many people are losing their jobs and in turn losing their health insurance.

    2. Republians argue that Obama's plan will mean that the govenrnment will run most aspects of the program. They also think that his plan would make health insuranc more expensive and not reduce it like he says.

    3. Obama promotes a plan that is run by the government and is a choice for every American. He wants discrimination to stop against people with pre-existing conditions. This is because he wants everyone to have health coverage.

    4. Yes, I believe people should be required to acquire health insurance because it would help everybody. It insures great coverage and it's better than paying for yourself. If you have health insurance, it's sure that you'll be covered in any medical problems .

    5. Adults between the ages of 55 and 64 face the most hardship in gaining health insurance because they have higher amounts of health insurance coverage than any other age group. Many of them start working less and their incomes in turn reduce.

    6. The United States spent $2.2 trillion on health care in 2007.

    7. Do you favor the Health Care Reform proposed by the Democrats? Why or why not?
Yes, I agree with the plan by the Democrats because it seems like a pretty good plan. It will help many people that don't have insurance at the moment. It will also reduce the amount of money the U.S. pays for health coverage overall.

  11. 1.One reason for the healthcare reform is because most Americans do not have health insurance.
There are many Americans who dont have but need insurance.
Another is because health insurance is very expensive and many employers have
stopped providing their employees with health care benefits.
    http://www.americanhealthcarereform.org/
    http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/06/18/ep.health.reform.basics/

A negative affect of the healthcare reform will be the tax hike.Taxes will sky rocket to an unbelievable high.
Another affect will be the choice of healthcare plan people
will get to chose for themselves. The government will be the ones to chose who
you can go to and what kind of health care plan you will be able to have.
    http://www.insurancespecialists.com/industry-articles/universal-health-care/

3.President Obama favors a nationalized healthcare plan. He is pushing for this healthcare reform
because believes every American should have health insurance.

4.I dont believe that health care should become a legal matter.Yes,having health care is a
fantastic thing to have when you want it.There are people who dont want health insurance because s
ome people want to die,its the sad truth. There is no nice way to put it,some people just want to die.
Give insurance and healthcare to the people who want it, not to those who dont want it.
If you want to meet people that dont have health insurance because they just want to die,but not
commit suicide well meet my family.

5.What age group has the most difficulty in obtaining health insurance and why?
The senior citizens have the most difficulty in obtaining health insurance because
the cost of insurance. Most elderly people are unable work because of their feeble bodies and
cannot obtain the money they need.

6.A whopping $2.4 trillion has been spent on healthcare alone in 2008.

7.No, I do not support this health care plan. This is a bad idea.Yes,this health care "reform"
will provide every american with insurance. But guess what, government health care is not
free and not safe.Think about it.If your sick with a tumor or cancer, you cant recieve the health care
you need. You will be waitlisted, you will die!!!!
Nationalized health care hasnt done very well in other countries, what makes people
think it will work in the U.S.People have been coming to the U.S for medical help, and im not talking
about plastic surgury medical help but real medical help. And like i stated before
some people want to die. Some people dont have insurance because they dont want it.
Give it to those who want insurance, not to those who dont.

  12. 1.One reason to reform healthcare is that americans now have to make a choice, between their nutrion or instead on their health, but not both. Also because prices in healthcare are increasing they are crashing families, business and the governments budget.
    http://www.whitehouse.gov/issues/health_care/

2.If a healthcare reform is achieved it will be sponsored with "hundrerds of billions of dollars" worth of savings from the federal budget. Also, if the government finances healthcare most employers would chose the care financed by the government because it would be less expensive, but the quality would be lower.
    http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/06/18/ep.health.reform.basics/

3.President Obama favors a universal healthcare reform that will benefit every american. He believes that every american should have healthcare coverage.

    4. I believe people should be required by law to obtain health coverage because everyone at one point will have health problems and may not be able pay the bills. In the long run it can benefit one's health rather than hurting it.

5.Senior citizens struggle more than any age group to gain health coverage because they cannot work, they are retired and lastly the money given to them by the government may not be enough to be able pay for health insurance.

6.Healthcare consumes $2.5 trillion per year which is about 16% of the economy.

7.In my opinion, I do favor a healcare reform because prices are extremely up which makes it almost impossible to have health insurance. Also I believe that if the reform is achieved it will be less expensive, but still with good quality. A person cannot be denied health coverage because that would be the same as denying them the right to care for their health.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 1. A reason given for reform healthcare is that it is simply too expensive. Many people can not afford the cost of medical care and insurance is cutting down on the cost of medicine. It is true that many people receive health insurance from their job, but on average, about 14% of families here in Nevada spend more than 10% of their income on healthcare. Another reason for reform healthcare is that we simply need a greater value, preventive care, and higher quality. Many feel that our preventive care & state of quality is weak and definately needs to improve.
    http://www.healthcarereform.gov/reports/statehealthcarereform/nevada.html

    2. The main reason for why not to reform healthcare is because it simply costs way too much. Our economic status has does not have the money to simply "fix" it.

    3. President Obama is in favor of a government-run insurance program. If this program goes through, I believe many Americans will benefit from this because of the affordable packages.
    abcnews.go.com/health/politics/story?id=7894252&page=1

    4. Yes, people should be required to have a health insurance because ultimately the life you are securing is your own. This will only benefit you in the long run.

    5. I believe elderly people have the most difficulty with healthcare and health insurance because they have more concerns about their health than people under the age of 60.

    1. One of the causes is that roughly 1.6 million people in Nevada get health insurance on the job, where family preiums average $11,276, about the annual earning of a full-time minimum wage job. Another of many causes are Nevada businesses and families shoulder a hidden health tac of roughly $1,300 per year on premiums as a direct result of subsidizing the costs of the uninsured. (http://www.healthreform.gov/reports/statehealthreform/Nevadahtml.)

    2. The cost of health care is now causing bankruptcy in America. As a result it could cause 1.5 million Americans to lose their homes. (http://www.whitehouse.gov/assets/documents/White_House_Forum_on_Health_Reform_Report.pdf)
Also, at a tikme of a critical situation (reffering to us) the citizens cannot within financial means fix the health care system as well.

    3. Obama's main goal is to enact a comprehensive health care reform by the end of this year. He wants to have a healthcare plan, in which all Americans have quality and affordable health care.

    4. I do not believe it should be a law to obtain health insurance. In my opinion, requiring people to have health insurance would be like going against their will. What would happen to our rights and our opinions? We wouldn't have any, now would we? We would not have freedom of speech. We would end up towards socialism which would then make them want to turn our country into a communist country.

    5. Elderly people have the most difficult time in receiving health insurance. Since they are more vulnerable to diseases or health problems it is harder for them to get work. Therefore, without work they cannot get money to pay for the insurance.

    6. $2.4 trillion were spent on healthcare during the year 2007. (NCHC Facts) Which is an equivalent to $7,900 per person.

    7. No, I do not agree with the proposition of the Democrats. I am currently working and my check has reductions on it. These reductions include money taken away from me to give to other people who do not do anything but watch tv all day in their homes. (and have childrem which they obviously can't support) The government supports many families that don't need help. They need help in getting their lazy "character-selves" to work. Therefore, we will just make more people become bumbs.

  15. One of the many reasons for reform health care is the fact that 46 million Americans have no insurance and another 25 million are underinsured. Another reason to take into consideration would be health cost. The United States spends more on health care than any other nation, yet we are unable to obtain the one thing we spend so much on: health security.

Many argue that by having a government sponsored insurance program it would mean having much lower quality insurance than that of a private insurance company. Others say that about half of the cost would be covered by reducing spending on other health programs like Medicare. The rest of the money would come from a new tax aimed at those who make more than 350,000 a year.

President Obama favors a government-sponsored health insurance program; the reason being for this form of health care is that it will abet Americans in obtaining full health care coverage.

Americans should not at all be required to obtain health insurance, though it would undoubtedly be in there benefit. Some may feel that a private health insurance program would be in their best interest rather than the health insurance the government provides.

It is unmistakable that those Americans who are 55 to 70 years old face more obstacles in obtaining health care coverage due to the concerns of their health condition from many insurance providers.

The United States spends approximately $2.4 trillion on health care.

The Health Care Reform has many flaws; the biggest would have to be the cost. Republicans have found that it would cost about $1 trillion over a 10 year period to extend health insurance to 16 million uninsured Americans which is about a third of the roughly 45 million now uninsured.
I agree with the concept of providing each and every American health insurance, and the Health Care Reform certainly has many benefits for those Americans who are unable to pay for health insurance, however it undeniable that the cost would be to much to bear.

  16. 1. What are two reasons given for reform healthcare? (Cite your source)According to Healthreform.gov; the two most eminent causes for a health reform are to expand coverage at a lower cost and to improve quality of health insurance to all Americans. The same website explains and provides interesting information of how health insurance is devaluating , to the point that “people can not afford their status quo”… meaning that people do not qualify or can not afford health insurance in their state because of high prices ,or simply do not qualify for the quality need it to treat certain cases. Nevertheless president Obama initiated a just fight with congress for help and relief for American citizens that struggle with this issue of expensive and inadequate health insurance. According to the same website he [the president] asks democrats, republicans and the senate to facilitate the process for health reform in order to have a health reform before the “August Rest.”

    2. What are two reasons given to NOT reform healthcare? (Cite your source) In a video downloaded yesterday July 18, 2009 at Healthreform.gov, the president Barack Obama states that the opposing sides of the Health reform stated that health reform will only benefit “big figures” in congress because everything is just a plan from government to obtain money for them [corrupt government members] and will only create more record deficits at the end. That means more money from the government that will not be invested but last and will generate more debt and cause a susceptible and week economy.

    3. What type of healthcare plan does President Obama favor and why? President Obama said very clearly in a video filmed for professional purposes and posted at Healthreform.gov. That he is committed to enacting comprehensive health reform, that will lower cost, guarantee choice of doctors, and assure qualify and affordable health insurance.

    4. Should people be required by law to obtain health insurance? Why or why not? Yes people should be by law required to obtain health insurance. When I was younger I had the opportunity of living in Mexico. There Health insurance was not such a big deal because everyone who worked at a register job (register by government) had the right to see a doctor and at the same level of quality. My mom was a middle class teacher (job register by government) and instead of paying to insurance companies we could pay (be abstracted from check) a small amount ever check and receive medical attention any time, by law health insurance should be obtain because is more equal to every one and if more people register and participate prices or health cost will decrease.

    5. What age group has the most difficulty in obtaining health insurance and why? A current survey done by urban.org showed that no elderly adults ages 19-64 are the most affected by lack of health insurance and the ones who have difficulty obtaining insurance. According to urban .org this people have been affected mostly do to; raising health care cost, the economic down turn, erosion- of- employer based insurance and public program cut downs.

    6. How much of our total economy is spent on healthcare? NCHC facts about health care showed that the past year the U.S spent an average of 15% out of its total economy.

    7. Do you favor the Health Care Reform proposed by the Democrats? Why or why not? No, I do not agree on the preposition of democrats for a Health Care Reform that will mostly benefit elderly who can not afford prescription medicine, and that will cease pivotal medical health research. I am more in the president’s side who is worry for a universal type of system to every American that will benefit all or the vast majority of Americans with an equal opportunity, instead of just lowering prices but still benefit big insurance companies.

  17. 1. One reason to reform the health care we have is that it will simply save lives. A joint project in Michigan saved 1,500 lives and two hundred million dollars. Saving money is very important in this time. (http://www.healthreform.gov/reports/index.html) Another reason to reform the healthcare is that there are a lot of people who just can not afford it. Throughout the cities of America there are many people who die because they could not get health care. (http://www.healthreform.gov/reports/success_nebraska/index.html)

    2. One of the major reasons that we should not reform healt care is the cost. America just can not afford to spend money to fix health care and not spend money to fix the economy. (http://www.whitehouse.gov/assets/documents/White_House_Forum_on_Health_Reform_Report.pdf) Another reason is that it will just raise the taxes of Americans.

    3. President Obama favors a plan that can cover every citizen of this country. He shows that he knows and cares about those who are having rough times.

    4. I do not think that it should be required by law to have health care. What about those who can not afford it. Will you arrest them because they are poor? It just does not make any sense.

    5. The elderly people of this country have the hardest time obtaining health care. They are retired and are getting monthly checks to live off of. Most times the checks are just enough to pay bills and for food.

    6. Approximately 2.3 trillion dollars was spent on health care in 2007. Inflation will definitley make that total rise to even higher costs.

    7. I am for the idea that the Democrats have proposed. The ways to get that idea into action, though, are not the best. This is not the best time to try this. Costs will only anger Americans when it comes time to pay taxes. Maybe they should wait until the country is in a more stable economy.

    ReplyDelete
  18. 1. President Obama is committed to pass health reform in order to have power over the uncontrollable rising health care costs. Today, employers are struggling to maintain the health insurance they sponsor in the work place. Another reason given by President Obama is that all Americans deserve high-quality, affordable health care that will lend them a hand during times of hardship. As of today, many of us are stuck between the decision to pay for the rent/mortgage or pay for health insurance. (http://www.whitehouse.gov/issues/health_care/)

    2. One of the reasons presented by the opposition states that the President and Democrats are moving too fast. They argue that there’s much more to the healthcare reform than just lowering prices and making it available to the needed. In addition, they said that Congress needs to debate more this issue among themselves and with the American people. Another reason mentioned was the fact that the proposed health reform resembles some similarities between the Canadian and British health systems. Critics denounced that our democratic government is at risk of becoming a bureaucratic, British-styled government. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/05/10/AR2009051002243.html)

    3. President Obama favors a healthcare plan that helps reduce health care costs for businesses and government; protects families that are at risk of bankruptcy or debt caused by health care costs; guarantees Americans the right to choose their doctors and plan, invests in prevention and wellness, improves patient care quality and safety in hospitals; assures affordable, high-quality health coverage for ALL Americans, keeps your coverage intact even if you lose or change your job and, last but not least, breaks the barriers that restrained people with pre-existing medical conditions.

    4. I don’t think people should be required to obtain health insurance until the government manages to pass the health reform that will make it available and affordable for all Americans. With the economic recession, it is going to be very difficult to implement a measure such as that since it’s going to take “some” time before our economy recovers from has happened. Moreover, there are going to be, perhaps, millions of homeless or struggling low-class citizens that will not be able to obtain health insurance.

    5. In my opinion, the age group that has the most difficulty obtaining health insurance is senior citizens. Since they tend to get sick often, insurance agencies try to avoid them in order to prevent major spending issues. In addition, the rising costs for health services keep increasing with no governmental control over them. I would say that the Health Reform would really benefit senior citizens.

    6. In the 2008, the United States spent more than $2.4 Trillion on healthcare services which represents about 17 percent of the total Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

    7. I favor the healthcare reform proposed by the Democrats because it touches every aspect of our shattered healthcare system. The main focus of the reform stays within every American as the President seeks to keeps us safe in a world plagued with thousands of diseases. I’ve always asked myself, how come the U.S. is the leading power, but it doesn’t protect its citizens? Britain and Canada do have healthcare systems that seem flawless. I would say that the Healthcare Reform proposed by Democrats along with President Obama will work and Americans will have something to rely on when they get sick or suffer injuries.

  19. This is in regards to Chynna's disagreement about Obama's plan.

I haven't heard of anybody that said they wouldn't want health insurance. Come on, who would refuse it? If everybody has health coverage, there would be so much less problems in hospitals around the U.S. I agree that nationalized health care hasn't worked in every country, but it seems the U.S. might use it differently. It's very possible that it might actually work.

Obama is doing the best he could in trying to ensure every American's health. Even though taxes will go up, I believe it's worth it. You can't have it all, after all. Many people that don't have health insurance want it, but they just don't know how to get it,so this reform will help them out greatly. For the ones that don't want it, too bad for them. I know that sounds cruel, but it's reality.

  20. This is in regards to Mekdelawit's commentary.

I have met people who dont want insurance because they no longer wish to live. Maybe you havent met these people but I live with these kind of peopl. I have met people that know and have experienced the effects of having nationalized health care, these people ranging from elderly to young people,by the way dont ask why i was talking to elderly people.I heard the beautiful and the hidious effects. The beautiful is that everyone will have health insurance. The ugly or as i call it the gremlin,
is the time it takes to recieve the care you will need in time, the tax hike, the choice revoked of chosing their provider and care, the choice of sustaining your loved ones life, paying for someone elses well being.

I understand that Obama is trying to do what is best for this struggling nation but nationalized health care is not necessary at this point. Mekdelawit imagine this health care plan goes through and you have someone you care dearly about in the hospital on life support. You want to sustain their life but the government and hospital says "No we are pulling the plug." Or what if someone needs a surgery but they have to wait because the government does not have time for them yet, they unfortunately pass because they could not get the care they need. Mekdelawit, things like this will happen. I have heard all of this, I
saw a family break down about this. And you may not care about the tax hike and the gemlins but I do, why should we pay for someone elses well being? As mean as that sounds, shouldnt we tend to ourselves and those who we love first than someone else who probably doesnt want it. And another thing, people have been coming here for the medical attention they need because of the nationalized health care they have. It hasnt worked anywhere else please be dear and tell me why would it work here. Please explain that to me.

  21. I would like to comment regarding to Wayne’s opinion. I agree with your opinion regarding how USA is standing with situations that are marking a hard crisis in the economy. I believe this plan should wait for a little longer because how you said American’s would get very upset with paying taxes and all. Since its very hard to even obtain jobs right now millions of businesses are closing and many are losing their jobs. So it would be hard to keep up with paying taxes at this moment.
I still have mixed feelings towards this healthcare reform plan though. I’m seeing democrats and especially Mr. Obama are trying to make America a more easier place with everybody having better chances of getting coverage. But as Wayne said, this should wait until the economy is more stable.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Another person I would like to comment is Melissa. I am in the same situation as you, having mixed feelings about this plan. I’m seeing the pro’s and con’s about this healthcare reform. Like you mention it would raise taxes and it would be harder for people to pay for their taxes, with how the economy is standing. I mean as I mention in responding Wayne, many people are losing their jobs and its hard for them to keep up with paying and so on.
I also agreed where you mention about choosing your own doctor. And also about how insurances have to approved so you can get the surgery done. I had a personal experiment that I needed to get surgery but all of the sudden the office told me they could not do the surgery based because the insurance couldn’t cover it. So I was upset and seeing the pro’s with this healthcare reform it could probably reduce the chances of getting the news “Oh sorry, but the surgery cannot be done regarding with your insurance not approving“. Probably, this healthcare reform can change this situations.

  23. My last comment due to this post goes to Cesar. Your question got me thinking how can America be the leading power and not be able to protect citizen’s. That is a good question and I think it got many of us thinking. As you said there are many people with diseases and unfortunately not many of them of a chance of getting treatment because of the type of insurance they carry. It’s sad because people want to live and sadly they aren’t given the chances right this moment.
As I repeat myself though I have my doubts about this but only time would decide what is going to happen. Seeing the pro’s and con’s not all of them may be right and accurate. It can make USA a more stable country due to the healthcare system, but in the other way it can also make it fall. But Cesar, I liked your comment and your question got me thinking.

  24. This is in regards to Chynna's comment.

Ok, I realize that some people may want to die, but that shouldn't stop the government from helping the ones that need the assistance. We know that this plan wouldn't work for everybody, but it works for the majority. There's always an exception to a rule, and that applies to this case, also. There's more problems now with healthcare than there will be with this new plan. Of course there are going to be people that are not going to accept it, but there's always opposers in every situation, but that still doesn't mean the plan won't work. Sometimes you just have to take a chance, and find out what happens.

Ok, Chynna, yes things will probably happen, but they also happen more often with the current health plan. Taxes will probably start going down once the plan is up & running. I don't think that should be a big worry. Yes, some people come here for better medical care, but that's because the doctors here have more tools & technology. That's what some of the people I have seen come for healthcare say, so I know that's true. Canada has nationalized healthcare, and it seems to be working pretty good there. So why wouldn't it work here?

  25. Among many reasons for the health care reform in America one is to protect families from bankruptcy or debt because of health care costs. Another reason that stands out to me is with this reform comes the improvement of patient safety and quality of care.
Republicans fear that this reform will make health care a government ran process over private companies. They also believe that it will too costly, in the state of our economy we don’t have the money to support this.
Obama favor the kind of plan that is ran by the government and gives each and every American quality care at an affordable price, which gives a choice of your doctor. Obama feel that this plan will work and in the end the health care of Americans will be improved.

I believe that all Americans should have health care. Having health care does no wrong; in most cases people don’t have health care is because they can’t afford it. Many families have trying times when someone in the family is sick, it’s either go to the doctor or pay a bill. In my opinion no one should ever have to make that decision when there is a way to prevent it. Also if someone doesn’t wish to go to the doctor they can always refuse treatment.
The age group that has the most difficulty receiving health care is senior citizens. The senior citizen category covers the age group of fifty and above. The main reason for the difficulty is because of the higher amounts of medical problems in this age group.
America has spent approximately 2.3 trillion dollars on health care.
I do favor the democrat’s health care reform. The reason is because; there are so many people in the world suffering from curable disease. Or deaths that could have been prevented if they would of caught the diseases in earlier stages. Yes, I might cause people to tighten their belt straps a little now but the effects in the future will really changes things.

  26. 1. Two reasons given to reform healthcare are first, Americans deserve a better and high quality healthcare insurance; secondly, the price of the healthcare is so not affordable, that’s why we need to reform it to make it available for everyone. (http://www.healthreform.gov/)

    2. Some Americans don’t think it’ll be better to reform healthcare because they think we need to start over from the very beginning since they believe America’s healthcare has been destroyed ever since it became unaffordable and unhelpful. The other reason is some of them think that it isn’t the time to spend money on healthcare reform even though it’s one of the ruined projects that America has. Though, they believe there's more important matters to take care of like the recession today. (http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=10279)

    3. The type of health care plan Obama is in favor of is a plan that has an improving quality, lowering costs, honoring patient choice, holding insurance companies accountable, promote scientific and technological advancements, and improve preventive care.

    4. I think people should be required by law to obtain healthcare insurance because if that law has been established, it is guaranteed to all Americans that each of them has insurance. However, the negative side of that choice is regarding to their financial status. It would still be a little bit hard for the poor families to keep up with the payments for the insurance if they don’t have a decent job that will support the money to pay their family healthcare plan.

    5. The age group that has the most difficulty in obtaining a healthcare plan is the ages of 20s because that’s the time young adults try to look for decent jobs and fail to find one because of the recession nowadays.

    6. Over the years, the cost of the healthcare plan has been increasing rapidly. In 1980, America spent $253 billion, in 1990, we spent $714 billion, and in 2007, America spent over $2.2 trillion. Healthcare spending was around $7,421 per resident, and it was assumed as 16.2% of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product

    7. I am actually in favor of the Democrats’ healthcare plan. I think it has good qualities such as lowering the cost of the insurance, improving the quality by providing better technologies and services. I only hope for the best and I think this is going to be the best step we’ll have when it comes to having a better healthcare plan. We all know that improving the insurance plan will benefit all of us, that’s why it’s best to support it.

  27. this is regards to Mekdelawit's comment.

Ok so you understand the harsh reality of this sad society, but from
what you said you believe that the government should take care of everyone.
Isn't that going deeper into the nanny state? Turning to the government for help with
health care. Yeah this plan will not work for everyone, we both are unsure
whats in store for "reform." Yes, there is problems with health care because of these
greedy malidoit people in charge of health care. If you think about it,
we will be paying for what they could have done. Heres a jolly good idea for them
that they can take in, lower down the price of health care, but since they dont want to help they waited
until so many people have suffered and turn to the goverment.

Mekdelawit, things will happen and as for taxes forget about them
going down if this health care plan goes through. Health care wont
be cheap. You have people to pay, equipment to pay for and a whole bunch of
other stuff to keep places up and running efficently. I apologize
for acting like money is the main issue but you need money to survive. Im glad
you understand that people come here for health care, the main reason is because
they can recieve the health care they need in time, doctors and technology.
I agree with you on that. Yes Canada has universal healthcare but they come
to the U.S for better help. They come here to get the help they need on time, with nationalized health
care you will first have to get governments approval before anything can happen then you are
waitlisted. In that time span that person could have falln so ill and passed or
no longer can be helped. So if you have falln terribly ill,God forbid anything will happen, you will have to wait
until you get to go to the doctors for the lovely government to say
"Yes Ms.Mekdelawit you may finally go to the doctors."
You cant go yet because the doctors are too busy to see you with seeing other people who most likely has a small case of the sniffles. Will you get frustrated? (I dont wish you ill and you know that )
Theres a jolly good reason why it wont work.

  28. This is in regards to Chynna's comment, again.

Yea, I see what you're saying, but we have to turn to the government sometimes. I don't think there is any other way to do it at this time. Yes, I know we're already in a big pickle, but the problems will still persist if something isn't done about them. And yea, I blame them for waiting so long until things became the worst, but we can't do nothing about it, you know. The damage is already done, and they have to find a way to fix it. I mean, if this plan doesn't pass, I can't think of any other way everybody will get the help they need. But then again, I'm not really an expert on this. If they have a better plan than this, I'm all for it, but for now, I think we should just settle for it.

Yea, I see what you're saying, and I agree with you. I didn't think of that, tho. So if this plan goes through, we're going to have to wait anytime we have a medical problem? If that's the case, then that's really not good. So what do you suggest they do?Just wait till things get really bad with the current health plan and take it from there? Oh, and about the taxes, I still think it'll be ok. It might not really be as bad as you expect it to be. Of course, people will complain about it at first, but didn't he say it's gonna be raised on mostly the rich?

  29. This comment is in regards to Refaela's comment:

I thought it was interesting to know that you believe people should be required to have health insurance. In one way I agree with you, but I would have to say that some people are not able to afford insurance for a long time. I agree with you about insurance helping out Americans, but how do you suppose that many will obtain insurance in the first place? I firmly believe that the healthcare system should be transformed first before such a law is proposed and passed.

On your last paragraph, you mentioned that you are unsure of your stance on this issue. At one point, I was in the same place; but after you think about it you will "see the light at the end of the tunnel". In addition, I agree with you that President Obama will succeed with his ideals and plans. I also think that healthcare reform will improve our economy somehow. Overall, I really liked your comment and the way you phrase it!

  30. This comment is in regards to Wayne’s comment:

As you may know by now, I agree with you on the issue of requiring people to have health insurance. You touched on the same point I did, most Americans just can’t afford to get health insurance because they don’t make that much or, most of time, it is too expensive. In addition, you asked a great question as to what will happen to people that do not have health insurance. I would say that probably, they will get cited or ticketed for not following the stated law.

You also mentioned that the elderly will have the most trouble finding ways to obtain health insurance because they have health conditions that will “burden” insurance companies. I think that it is the best time to pass the health reform because once we get back to normal; the government will go back to the old ways of governing the people. The economy is stabilizing a little and I think that taxes may go up, but at least we will know that we are going to be protected, safe, and healthy.

  31. This is in regards to Mekdelawit ‘s comment.

Touche Mekdelawit, you got me on that with the government help. Yeah, we should to the turn to the government if we need help, we also need help with our housing. Why don’t we turn to the government for that too? I mean many people don’t have anywhere to go and housing is important too, isn’t it? Why don’t they pay for that too if they want to take care of us. They are not helping people out with that either. They have the power to lower down the price of health care to make it affordable to everyone, why cant they? They cant pull out the card that the lower class and elderly people cant get health care. There are plans available by the government to those kinds of people. Some people don’t even bother signing up! So it is on those people. It is also on our government because they turn those people away to. Sorry to say but our government needs to reform too.

I am not suggesting that they wait until things get worse, I am just saying that they should really think about this. People that have nationalized health care, places like the United Kingdom and Canada, suffer as a nation. I do appreciate the government wanting to help and treat the people with equality dealing with healthcare, but they are going to make the people suffer equally. If this plan is put through then the government will be in charge weather we live or die,the government in charge saying if you can get help or not. I know some people who are suffering from this healthcare nightmare in the UK and I knew someone who was denied help from the government and died. I don’t want that here. As for the taxes, Obama said he would only tax the rich, sounds great right since they have money to spare. The reality of it is, is that OUR generation will be paying for all of this. Yes, the wealthy class will get a tax hike but as will we. Do you want the government toying with your health and do you want the government taking your money to pay for others that are probably doing damage to themselves?

  32. 1. Two reasone for reforming health care that i found are; expense for healthcare is far to high for Americans especially in such times and it will simply ensure the lives of Americans who can not afford healthcare, it was time for a change. http://www.healthreform.gov/

    2. Two reasons stated that we should reform healthcare is that taxes would fly off the roof due to raise and it would become to time consuming and difficult to reform such a thing as healthcare. It is not easy business. (http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=10279)

    3. Obama favors a healthcare that will not be too costly for business and government, help families in need, paitient of choice, favors advances in science and technology, insurance companies accountability improvement and prenitive care. He chooses this healthcare to bettr his people in the smartest possible way.

    4. People should not be required by law to have health insurance untill costs are reasonable for everybody! It should not be a federal offense to not have enough money.

    5. I find that older citizens have most trouble affodring healthcare because they seem to be in danger of getting sick more often and they will be found in need of their healthcare alot more, therefore rates must ridiculous.

    6. $2.4 Trillion of our economy is spent on healthcare due to latest research.

    7. I favor the Healthcare the Democrats proposed to becuase it seems to covor alot of troubled aspects of todays healthcare, such as price and range of people who get healthcare. It also is a smart way to help insurance plans.

  33. This comment is in regards to David Lopez’s response:

You said: “This is still America and for me, we should have the plan we want, not what the government wants because that is what America is all about…. I want what’s best for me.” I do agree that we are still in America and as an American you have the ability to say what you want and what you don’t want. I’m sure that this plan has to pass through the assembly and the senate. When I was at Nevada Girl’s State I learned about the whole process. Lobbyists, which are concern citizens, can send notes to the Assembly women/men and Senators during the debate. So you do have a say in the plan, just the government came up with the idea.

Also you said: “The cost would be through the roof. Our debts our currently un-payable and the responsibilities will be passed down to the next generation. We will have to eventually pay for that but, unfortunately the realities of our financial iresponsibilities will prove to be quite disastrous in the very near future.” I do agree with you on that. The money has to come from somewhere, and where are they going to get it from? You must think about how this is going to affect the middle- class worker.

    ReplyDelete
  34. 1. One reason given for reform healthcare is that 18 percent of people in Nevada are uninsured, and 70 percent of them are in families with at least one full-time worker. Another reason is that since 2000 alone, average family premiums have increased by 61 percent in Nevada.(http://www.healthreform.gov/reports/statehealthreform/nevada.html)

    2. Some reasons for not reforming healthcare are the reduction of tax deductions for high-income Americans and the fear that employers would opt for the government-run insurance over private insurance.(http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/06/18/ep.health.reform.basics/)

    3. President Obama favors for a health-plan available for all Americans and one that is sponsored by the government. He favors this kind of health-plan because he "cares."

    4. Having heatlh insurance is a luxury,it should never be mandatory.

    5. Senior citizens have the most difficulty getting health insurance because they are more prone to illnesses that are expensive to treat and cant afford it.

    6. According to the NCHC,$2.4 trillion in 2007. It is expected to increase to $4.3 trillion in 2017.(http://www.nchc.org/facts/cost.shtml)

    7. I do NOT favor the Health Care Reform proposed by the Democrats. It is a complete waste of the taxpayers' money. Private insurance companies will suffer and hard-working taxpayers will be supporting the ones who caused the recession. Spending so much money on those who dont put in their share of work is absurd. How will having healthy parasites improve our economy?

    ReplyDelete
  35. This is in regards to Mekdelawit's response.

I have to say that I disagree with your cost-benefit analysis of the healthcare reform being proposed by Democrats. You said that "It will also reduce the amount of money the U.S. pays for health coverage overall," and I have to disagree with you. Many Americans will continue to use their own insurance, and with the current monopolization of the health industry, at the same time they are footing their own bills, they will be footing all of the expenses of this so-called public option as well.

You also said that "It will help many people that don't have insurance at the moment." This public option is not a friend to those without health insurance, either. Their health care will become a talking point among bureaucrats and members of the death panels that Democrats like to make into a joke. I do not see why any American would want to be subject to the government's every whim. If President Obama truly wanted to reform health care, then there are many routes to take besides the one that is blatantly socialist. Monopolization is supposed to be illegal. If they could break up the monopolized, greed riddled HMOs, then they could have a real chance at helping those who can't afford health care, and even those who can.

  36. This comment is in regards to Jorge's response.

You said, "Having heatlh insurance is a luxury,it should never be mandatory." I could not agree with you more. Forcing people to have health insurance is like forcing them to eat their vegetables. When it comes right down to it, it is a personal choice that has nothing to do with the government. This isn't a welfare state, and not one of us needs Big Brother to look after us.

I also agree with the reasoning behind your rejection of President Obama's proposed Health Care reform. I just don't understand why the Democrats want to spend hard earned tax dollars to reward fiscal irresponsibility. Who is this really helping? The health care that this public option will supply is sub par in every way. It is a rationed extension of bureaucracy and government power.

    ReplyDelete
  37. This comment is regarding Cesar's response.

I have to disagree with you when you say that the proposed health care reform "touches every aspect of the shattered health care system". The problem with our health care system is the monopolization of the health industry. I do not understand how a so-called "public option" will help to dismantle said monopolies. You also said that you've always asked yourself why the United States doesn't protect its citizens, and the answer is, it does. Health care is not a right and does not merit government protection.

I disagree with you when you say that Britain and Canada seem to have "flawless" health care systems. They don't seem flawless to me at all! Hours of waiting when a patient is in dire need of care, enslavement by the red tape of bureaucratized medicine, rationed health care and tax hikes are a few examples of how flawed it truly is. However, flaws set aside, our nation is still in no position to be footing the bill for the Democrats' proposed health care reform.

  38. This comment is to David Lopez:

The cost of a healh care reform is too expensive for America at the moment. But regardless of the price, we will have to do it one way or another. This is a MAJOR topic for congress right now. Many have ideas, but the million dollar question is, will it work? There are also questions like who will it affect/benefit? and when a plan goes through, how will we as a country pay for it? There are soooo many questions on just one topic for a reform. This is a very important reform that has to be done. Whether we will come up with it by the time our economy settles down, is up for grabs.

  39. 1. One of the most important reasons for health care reform is that 46 million Americans have to make do without health care insurance. Since it has become so expensive, employers have decided to not include the costly benefit. The 61% increase of average family premiums in Nevada has also sparked debates and cause for reform.

    2. Due to the economic recession, America's economy is not healthy enough to undergo the massive spending which would have to be done in order to truly have healthcare reform. Also, if health care were run by the government, that would put privately owned healthcare companies out of business.

    3. President Obama wants Americans to have access to full health care coverage and in order to do so, he prefers a health insurance program that is run by the government so it could compete with the private sector.

    4. I would love for the people living in America to be healthy, but not if it should be required by law for people to obtain health care. I believe it is the responsibility of the government to provide health care for its people to an extent, but that extent does not include REQUIRED health care provided by the government.

    5. People in the third age, from 50-64, have difficulties obtaining healthcare because the older they get, the less employed they become, thus losing employer-provided health care.

    6. $2.4 trillion was spent on health care in 2008.

    7. Although I generally associate myself with the beliefs of the Democratic party, I am not in favor of government-provided health care. I don't really want America to become France, where the people will take complete advantage of the government without really earning any of the benefits provided by the government. I see people have used the examples of Welfare stamps as reasoning against full coverage health care, but that is not very just. There are people who truly need health care, but it is not the government's job to make sure undeserving people are comfortable at the expense of the truly needy.

  40. I must also say that I agree with Erica Arnold to some extent when she referred to Cesar's comment. Britain and Canada (along with France) seem to offer the perfect solution to all of your health-care needs, but at the end of the day, one needs to take into account that there are queues months long because people need to wait to have a life-saving surgery. People MUST wait in these situations because its the limbo in which the government has placed them in. It truly is flawless... especially when the governments of those respective nations had to undergo tax hikes among other sacrifices in order to give people that "flawless" care.

  41. 1. One reason to reform healthcare is because of the skyrocketing costs that are choking American businesses. U.S. health expenditures were expected to rise an estimated 6.9 percent in 2008 -- twice the rate of inflation; according to the National Coalition on Healthcare. Healthcare id getting expensive and soon wont leave people to go out and buy things from businesses.

Second reason is because 87 million Americans are uninsured the numbers are still growing. “During the last survey, in 2007, the total reached about 46 million Americans, or roughly 15 percent of the population.” Many people are being left without healthcare because of the loss of jobs, even thought there is a program called COBRA that lets you keep your healthcare, you still have to pay to keep it. It only assures you for 18 moths, but where is an unemployed person going to come up with the money???

    2. One reason why we should not reform healthcare is because of the increased dependence on the government. Our incomes will be limited, and the amount we can earn will be strictly controlled.
The second reason we should not reform healthcare is because of the cost. Veterans Administration website: “VA's fiscal year 2009 spending is projected to be approximately $93.4 billion, including $40 billion for health care...This is more than a 7 percent increase from the department’s $87.6 billion budget for fiscal year 2009.”

    3. Obama favors a public health plan that will help out all Americans. He cares about all of the Americans’ which is why he id trying to get everybody healthcare.

    4. I don’t think they should be any big prerequisites in order to obtain health care. If anybody is in need for health care then they should get it.

    5. The age group that has the most difficulty obtaining health insurance are seniors/elderly people. The reason they have a greater difficulty is because they are more likely to get sick and have bigger diseases which are more expensive.

    6. The total amount of money spent on healthcare is $2.4 trillion ( in 2008).

    7. I am actually half and half, on one side I do agree with the reform because it gives a chance for those people who are in need be able to get the medical attention that they need. On the other hand I believe that people might take advantage of this program as they do with many of the other government issued support.

  42. Stacey,

I think you are right, when you work, you have a lot of deductions and it sucks. Because like you said, those deductions that they are taking away from our checks are going out there to support all of those other people that are too lazy to work. I don’t think its fair that we are out there and that other people are out there trying to work there but off trying to support their family. On the other hand, here are plenty of people that are too lazy to work and that are on welfare or other government issued help.
The health reform is not very good, I think it should stay and it is or to find a different kind of way of organizing health care. If somebody wants health care then I think they should be given the opportunity to get it. But I don’t think its right to keep giving lazy people free things, they need to learn to do stuff for themselves.

  43. Chynna,

When I was first reading about the nationalized health care, I thought it was a good
idea. Then, I saw your opinion and it got me thinking, and I wasn’t so sure, but I did
some research and you are right. The taxes will skyrocket, which they are thinking
of enacting an eight percent payroll tax for any employer who is not paying enough
health insurance for their employees . They also are thinking of having an annual 750 dollar fee.
Also like you said about having to wait to be able to get the attention you need, it will take longer. I also read that there will be a higher individual tax as well as lower quality health care. And you are right some people don’t want health insurance when they are horribly sick, they just rather die because they think that when it’s the time to go, then its time. Every person thinks differently, but I think you are right and you changed my mind in the opinion I had.
